Ok, I know this isn’t a BCC, but it’s a sister ship. The last design by Lyle Hess before he passed away. These boats are normally built by Channel Cutter Yachts, up on Vancouver Island, and they normally look exactly like a BCC 28, only a little larger. But this particular one was owner finished. He purchased the bare hull from Channel Cutter Yachts and built his own cabin/deck and interior. So it looks a little different on the exterior, and of course the interior is totally custom.
The boat is called “Astrid” and Kaj, the builder, is a master cabinet maker. I’ve seen the boat, and it is a master work. Absolutely fantastic workmanship and detail. Kaj documented the build process on a blog, which you can find here: Building a 34 ft Lyle Hess Falmouth Cutter: Building a Lyle Hess 34’ Falmouth Cutter (knjwoodworking.blogspot.com)
So, if you’re looking for a BCC, but would really like something a little larger… then Astrid may be for you!
Astrid is listed on YachtWorld and is currently located in Ladysmith, BC.
